Cape San Blas is a hook of land jutting out from the mainland midway between Apalachicola and Port St. Joe.  Voted #1 beach in the U.S. by Dr. Steve Leatherman a.k.a . "Dr. Beach".  There are miles of beautiful sugar white powder sand on the Gulf side of Cape San Blas and beautiful clear, shallow waters on the Bay side. St. Joe Bay is noted for one of the most fertile scallop beds in the world.  The clear, shallow waters of St. Joseph Bay boast one of the richest breeding grounds for scallops.  Each annual harvest season is from July 1 through September 10.  The Port St. Joe community puts on quite a show for locals and visitors to celebrate their rich bay treasures.
